You should consider seeing a physiotherapist if pain, stiffness, weakness or reduced movement is affecting your daily activities, exercise or work. Physiotherapy can also help with sports injuries, rehabilitation after surgery and recurring musculoskeletal problems.
Here's the thing: you don't always need a referral. Many areas let you book directly with a physio without stopping at your GP first. That said, insurance can be finicky about coverage, so check your plan before you show up. We'd still suggest a quick chat with your doctor if you haven't had one recently—they know your full medical picture and can help everything run smoothly.
Yes. Physiotherapy can help assess the possible causes of back pain and may include movement advice, rehabilitation exercises, strengthening and other appropriate treatments based on your individual assessment.
Physiotherapy is basically movement medicine. We work with evidence-based techniques—manual therapy, targeted exercises, and good old-fashioned education—to help you recover from injuries, manage ongoing pain, and get your body functioning properly again. After surgery? We've got you covered. Chronic pain slowing you down? That's our wheelhouse. Or maybe you just want to prevent problems down the road. Either way, we build treatment plans around what matters to you, not some generic template.
Most appointments run 30 minutes depending on what we're treating. Your first visit? That's usually time we need time to really assess and we also treat with setting goals. We'll let you know exactly if you need onward referral, book for more treatment, further investigations.
